28 October 2010 -- Post Natal Depression week November 14 -20
Adjusting to life as a mother can be difficult. In fact, for many women, having a baby is the most significant life-changing event they will ever experience. Adjusting to this major life change, as well as coping with the day-to-day stress of a new baby, can make some women more likely to experience depression at this time, particularly if they've experienced depression in the past.

26 October 2010- - Movember Movember,
Mo Bros and Mo Sistas have gathered at events across the nation recently to launch Movember, an annual awareness and fundraising campaign that grows in popularity every year.
At the start of Movember, the month formerly known as November, guys register with a clean-shaven face. Known as Mo Bros, they then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustaches, and along the way raise awareness about men's health issues, including depression/anxiety and prostate cancer.
Mo Sistas play a very important role too by supporting their work mates and partner's quests to avoid the razor for 30 days.
The Movember Foundation works with beyondblue throughout the year to help change the face of men's health in Australia and:
- generate awareness of depression, anxiety and related disorders
- reduce the associated stigma
- encourage men to talk about these conditions
- encourage men to seek help for themselves or their mates.
So to all you Mo Bros out there, don't forget to put those razors away! And Mo Sistas - your support for their hirsute pursuits is appreciate.
All organisations whose staff register with Movember as MO Bros or MO Sistas are entitled to workshops up to the value of $2,500 from the award winning beyondblue National Workplace Program. The sessions must be held by 31st March 2011.

beyondblue CEO Leonie Young said this is a great opportunity for people to find out more about the signs and symptoms of anxiety and depression, and where to get help. "Around one million people in Australia live with depression and a further two million have an anxiety disorder, yet less than half seek help. So it's important to encourage people to talk openly about their mental health," she says. "We hope that everyone will acknowledge that it's OK to talk about how you're feeling, that support and effective treatments are available and no one needs to try to get better on their own."
Guest speaker was Nathan Thompson ex Hawthorn and North Melbourne AFL player who told of his struggle and recovery from depression.
Similar events will be held in Hobart and Launceston later.
