Requirements at Rotary Club levels:

 Personnel

The responsibility for the organization of the program comes under the auspices of the Community Service Committee, but it may be desirable to delegate the responsibility to a committee comprising the members most suited to the task.  Some continuity in this committee is essential.

A Club needs to have:

  • commitment to the conduct of an annual program..

  • personnel to organise and control the program.

  • a recognition that Bowelscan is a community service program, not a fundraising project.

  • an acceptance that up to six months is required to plan a program for the first time.

  •  If your Club is participating in a program with a number of other Clubs in a city or suburban area you may need a combined Management Committee.

The club will

  1. Check with the local pharmacies that participated last year and speak with Pharmacies that did not participate and ask if they would like to join the program. The Bowel scan person from the Club to introduce themselves to the Pharmacies that they will be looking after this year, go over the time schedule i.e. Brochures will be delivered early Feb for inclusion into prescription bags etc •

  2. Supply the FOBT test kits. Bins, advertising material etc to the Pharmacies Last week of Feb all kits, kit stand with phone number of person looking after the pharmacy/ies on it, and bin is to be delivered in preparation for the 1st of March.

Advise pharmacy of time frame for kit sales & for the last date of pick up time for the kits to be returned

  3. Regularly pick up used kits and deliver to the pathology nearest you.
    NW pathology
    Hobart pathology
    Launceston pathology

  4. From the first week of kits on sale person to go in & collect ANY returned kits and get them to pathology ASAP after collection: •

IT IS THE REPONSIBLITY OF THE CLUB TO ENSURE THAT EACH WEEK THEY TAKE THE RETURNED KITS TO THE PATHOLOGY CLOSEST TO THEM. This is important as the used kits have a short life span for correct results. •

  5. Ensure that the Pharmacies have plenty of stock each call.

  6. Pick up monies collected from the sales of the kits

  7. Collect any unsold kits and promotional material from the pharmacy on the last day
Re-advise pharmacy of the very last date for returns that can be accepted. This must tie in with Pathology. (This needs to be confirmed by all Pathologies)

  8. Collect the bin and the final kit returns on the last day — end 2nd week in April

  9. Reconcile money and kits

  10. An account will be sent to all participating Clubs early April, to coincide with the invoices that are sent to the treasurer from your area Coordinators. Clubs are asked to pay on invoice.
