The Community Service Director is responsible to the District Governor for supervising the Community Service sub-committees in their endeavours to assist Clubs in supporting our communities both locally and nationally.

Beyond Blue Memorandum of Understanding
Rotary Tasmania, District 9830 has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Beyond Blue organisation.
This will allow us to promote Rotary's Mental Health initiatives in conjunction with Beyond Blue.
The partnership will see events such as health forums and mental heath days held throughout the state.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL INFORMATION BOOKLET
Clubs are able to obtain these booklets and make them available to people in the community to record their medical history for use by emergency services personnel.

PROBUS
Probus is one of Rotary’s greatest success stories. Over the past 30 years Rotary clubs throughout Tasmania have sponsored the formation of 72 Probus clubs, with membership in excess of 5000 ! Probus are autonomous social clubs of retired/semi-retired business and professional people. Rotary has a statutory obligation to promote the formation of Probus clubs, to provide information and literature to assist clubs and to encourage interaction between Rotary and Probus.
Sponsor Rotary Clubs may for instance invite their Probus President [and partner] to be their guests at their mid-year Club President change-over function and their end-of-year Christmas celebration.

SecondBite is a dynamic not-for-profit organisation committed to making a positive difference by sourcing fresh nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste and redistributing it to people who are homeless, living in disadvantaged circumstances or experiencing food security* issues within the community.
Second Bite are firmly established in Hobart and are beginning operation in Northern Tasmania . Rotary Clubs are actively supporting this organisation.
BOWELSCAN
Bowelscan is a public awareness program seeking to increase community knowledge of bowel cancer and its symptoms. The project involves the distribution to the public of a simple test kit on which is collected a small specimen for analysis.

The Rotary Club of South Launceston has taken on the distribution of Street Swags for homeless people in Launce
ston. They cost about $60 each and are distributed through the Salvation Army who are keeping a register of the people receiving them.
