I was inducted into Rotary District 9830 in January 1973, as a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Lindisfarne. I am a Sapphire Paul Harris Fellow. I joined Salamanca Club in 2003.
I was apprenticed as a French Polisher and Cabinet Maker in Hobart, following which I worked locally and overseas as an antique dealer and furniture restorer, importing furniture from England from 1970 until 1998.
I was President of the Rotary Club of Lindisfarne 1994/1995, and Rotary Club of Salamanca 2012/2013.
I served as Assistant Governor twice and a District Officer 1998 – 2012. I was Chair of the Youth Exchange Program for two year and implemented certification of D9830 and established Police checks in the District.
Liz and I were married in 1972. We have two children, Richard and Angela, and two granddaughters, Sophia and Lucy. Liz is a retired teacher. She was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in 2005.
I plan to promote the acceptance of “change”, to maintain open communication with all District Leaders to motivate them to be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Rotary. I need to delegate where appropriate and I have chosen committed Rotarians as Leaders. I will encourage the involvement with The Rotary Foundation, acknowledge and support RAWCS and encourage Rotarians to embrace the theme “Rotary: Making a Difference”.
Liz and I look forward to serving District 9830 2017/2018.
