Ross first joined the Rotary Club of North Launceston in 1987-88 and was a member for several years before taking a career opportunity in Melbourne. After returning to Tasmania in 2003, Ross re-joined Rotary with the Rotary Club of Hobart before transferring to Sandy Bay. At Sandy Bay he has served as a Director in portfolios including President (2012-13), Administration, Community Service, Vocational & New Generations, International & Foundation, and as Vice President and Sergeant-at-Arms.

Ross’s professional life has mostly been as a corporate retailer holding General Management/Senior Executive positions in retail, trade, wholesale and job lot manufacturing within the timber and hardware industries. In his second career, with Penny, he established and operated ‘The Paint Shop’ in Hobart growing it from a Greenfield site to the largest PaintRight store in Australia. Ross sold the business and ‘retired’ in late 2014. Ross is now into his third career as an active Company Director (GAICD).

The family: Penny is a secondary maths/science teacher and plans to retire in the ‘not too distant future’. Beth is a cellist and lives in England with her husband and two daughters. Andrew is a chemical engineer/business analyst and has recently moved to a new position in Canberra. He is a Past President of the Rotaract Club of Sandy Bay and a past District 9830 Rotaract Representative. Catherine is still studying part time, lives in Hobart, and is a past member and past Treasurer of the Rotaract Club of Sandy Bay.

Penny and Ross enjoy travelling, bush strolling, contemporary arts, wine, time at the shack, catching up with friends, and have recently purchased a double kayak!
