DG Peter Murfett (Colleen) Hobart

Peter is a Certified Practicing Accountant but for many years has practiced as a Management Consultant in Melbourne and Tasmania with KPMG and, more recently, in his own company, Murfett Management Pty Ltd.

Prior to this he held senior management roles in state government agencies - Premier and Cabinet, and Consumer Affairs. His later career has specialised in high-level Executive Search/Recruitment, strategy, governance and facilitation with clients in private industry, government, Government Business Enterprises and the community sector.

Peter has always been involved in community activities. He is presently Chairman of St Michael’s Collegiate School Board and a Director of the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation. He is a former National President of the Institute of Management Consultants, was a National Vice President of the Heart Foundation, played senior cricket for many years and was inaugural President of the South Hobart/Sandy Bay club.

He continues his involvement in facilitating and judging a number of management and leadership awards, is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has been a JP for over 35 years.

His partner Colleen Howell is the Quality and Risk Manager for both the Hobart and St Helen’s Private Hospitals and participates nationally on Healthscope Limited committees.

Their immediate family comprises four adult children and their interests include travel, cricket, dining and St Kilda
