Bruce has lived in Devonport for over 50 years and has been a member of the Rotary Club of Devonport North since 1998. Married to Gill with four adult children between them, they enjoy a happy blended family relationship with many a full house of family members and partners.
Bruce has enjoyed many roles during his membership of Rotary, both at club and district level. Serving on the Rotary Club of Devonport North Board for 9 years (not continuous) saw the development of many major club projects and programs which are now very much part of the club's annual activities .
At District level, the role of Assistant Governor for two years with 6 active and vibrant clubs in his group was a very satisfying experience. District Secretary to District Governor Ted Richey in 2010/11 gave Bruce an insight into the workings of clubs within the District.
Working for the same agricultural and industrial machinery sales company for over 45 years, Bruce retired in 2009 and has been busy since them with Rotary and community work.
Gill is a Past President of the Inner Wheel of Mersey and a Charter Member. She has been state coordinator for Cord Blood fundraising for a number of years. Gill worked for many years as an interviewer with the Bureau of Statistics and then after retiring from that position commenced her own business selling Lingerie. In their rare spare time Gill enjoys craftwork whilst Bruce enjoys photography and bushwalking. They have travelled overseas together three times, once on a return visit to a USA Rotary couple they had previously hosted on a friendship exchange.
