Rotary Programs for Youth Across the Nation introduces an inspiring range of programs for youth in our communities. It aims to provide ideas for the Youth Services Avenue of Service to all Rotary Clubs – from the simple to the complex. Rotary has always focused on making a difference and providing opportunities through creativity, inventiveness and identifying what the needs are in our current society. Make use of this great resource to assist you to reinvent your portfolio.
Some activities are of interest to school age students, others are more appropriate to those in post school training or beginning their careers.

Of Interest to School Students
Model United Nations Assembly – MUNA (Year 10 May)
Model United Nations Assembly involves secondary students in a hands-on experience of a UN-style conference to increase international understanding and goodwill, The Rotary Club of Deloraine organises a model United Nations Assembly in Deloraine each year.
Interact (Year 7 -12)
Interact is a club for young people ages 12-18 who want to join together to tackle the issues in their community that they care most about.
Rotary Youth Programme of Enrichment – RYPEN (Year 10 April )
RYPEN is Australian designed project for young people aged 14 to 17, itholds weekend camps in leadership for Grade 10 students in both Northern and Southern Tasmania.

ConocoPhillips Australia Science Experience (Year 10) [Formally Siemens Science Experience]
This National program encourages students in Years 9 to consider science, engineering and technology as interesting and worthwhile subject and career choices. There are 3 days of hands-on science fun and activities in laboratories in Burnie, Launceston or Hobart,
Science and Engineering Challenge [SEC] Year 9- 10 July
This is an outreach program conducted by the Universities of Newcastle and Tasmania in association with Rotary and the Engineers Australia (Tasmania Division) . It involves year 9 and 10 students engaging in a number of exciting activities related to science, technology and engineering. Challenges are conducted in north west, northern and southern Tasmania.
Rotary International Exchange – ROTEX (Year 10-12)
The Youth Exchange Program is an International exchange for young people between the ages of 15 and 18. The exchange is for a 12 month period during which time the student is hosted by 3 or 4 families.
National Youth Science Forum (Year 11) January
For 12 days in January, students go to Canberra and live on campus as a university student. More than 100 like-minded NYSF participants meet a range of scientists and researchers, to visit them at work and to do the kinds of things scientists do every day.
Road Safety Educational Program – RYDA (Year 10) Term 3
RYDA is a community road safety initiative delivering practical road safety information targeting attitude and awareness of young drivers and passengers.
Creating My Career
Replacing Try’ a Skil. The program engages Year Eight and Nine students to give work exposure experience through TAFE and Uni Pathways plus Industry.
Windward Bound – Youth Leadership Challenge
The Windeward Bound Trust’s Annual Youth Leadership Challenge is a working partnership with Rotary Tasmania that brings together 20 young people of vastly different backgrounds for a ten-day voyage aboard the STV Windeward Bound,
