2010 - 2011 PROGRAMME
East Africa Friendship Mission
After an initial expression of interest from 17 people for East Africa interest has dropped to hence it has been decided to defer at this time.
Denmark Friendship Exchange
A response from the Jutland area of a potential exchange with them. There appears quite a deal of interest and dialogue is continuing..
Other Friendship Exchanges
Requests in the last eight weeks from 5 Districts in India, two in United States and one in Canada, no further action at this stage as Denmark seems to be a destination of interest from our District Rotarians.
Possible future event
The possibility of a group of Rotarians participating in an Immunisation Day in India has been raised. This sounds like a great idea and I know that Rotarians in this District have travelled to participate in them before.

2009 - 2010 PROGRAMME
Rotary Friendship Mission to Egypt and Jordan
Around forty Rotarians and partners (pictured below) had the opportunity to participate in a Rotary Friendship Mission to Egypt and Jordan in March 2010.

The next Friendship Mission will be to Africa, spending time working at the School of St Jude with Gemma Sisia, followed by a safari.

Friendship Exchange is Rotary's international exchange program for Rotarians and their families. Friendship Exchange provides participants the opportunity to experience other cultures by staying in the homes of Rotarians in other countries. The program aims to advance international understanding and peace through personal contact across borders while developing interclub relationships for fellowship and service projects.
There are two types of Friendship Exchanges:
Visitor Program Individual Rotarians, who may be accompanied by family members, spend a few days in the home of a Rotarian in another country.
Team Program Rotarian couples, typically four to six, visit several communities in a host district for up to one month.
District 9830 has these Team Programs and you are encouraged to participate.
Rotary International is looking for good photos and stories about successful Rotary Friendship Exchanges to feature on the Web site and in RI publications.
