Government pledge for Poio Action

After the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth, the governments of Australia, Canada, and Nigeria, along with the Gates Foundation, made a combined pledge of more than US$100 million in new funds for polio eradication. Increase your Knowledge of Rotary
Rotary Learning Institute ( RLI ) seeks to have Rotary Clubs identify those Rotarians who look to future club management (not necessarily as club presidents) and provide them with a quality learning experience in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills so important to voluntary organisations. It provides a series of fast-paced, interactive, one-day courses offered to refine a Rotarian’s leadership skills and increase their base of knowledge in Rotary. Join in on October 22. More ....
The Yellow Boat Road
At Wrest Point Saturday on 24th September 2011 a celebration dinner was held and over $31000 raised for the project. The Rotary Club of Kingston presented Rob Pennicott with a Paul Harris Fellowship which was awarded by DG Peter Murfett.
Rob Pennicott's circumnavigation of Australia in two outboard powered 5.4 metre dinghies raised more than $250 000
for Rotary's Global Polio Challenge. The two yellow - hulled dinghies finished in Sydney on Sunday 11 September.
On arrival; at Constitution Dock in Hobart, Rob Pennicott and his co-skipper, Mick Souter, and camera-man, Zorro, were welcomed by Premier Lara Giddings, the Lord Mayor of Hobart, Rob Valentine and Rotary 9830 District Governor Peter Murfett.

District Simlified Grants
Applications for Rotary Clubs in D9830 for DISTRICT SIMPLIFIED GRANT (DSG) for local and International humanitarian projects that benefit the community and/or improve the lives of the economically disadvantaged close on 30 September 2011.
Examples of recent Club utilization of simplified grant funds within D9830 communities have been :-
- Community Barbecue shelter
- Syringe Drive for Palliative Care Unit and heater for Dementia Unit old aged home.
- Gymnasium equipment for rehabilitation facility for young offenders and their families.
- Community Seating.
