DISASTER AID INTERNATIONAL
Disaster Aid Australia which was launched on 1 June this year forms part of Disaster Aid International (DAI).
DAI comprises not only Disaster Aid Australia but Disaster Aid Canada (June this year), Disaster Aid USA (July this year) and this month Disaster Aid UK which was previouskly known as LifeBox UK.
LifeBox UK brings some 35 years experience in providing emergency relief for survivors of disasters. They were the first (and leader) in Rotary Emergency Box Relief and will now form an integral part of Disaster Aid International.

Disaster Aid Relief
The Rotary Club of Youngtown has provided the latest news from our Disaster Aid Australia Relief Teams (DAA) on the ground in Pakistan. Your generosity and support continues to enable us to deliver our aid to those in need. To date some $20,000 has been donated from Clubs etc within District 9830.
DISASTER AID DISPLAY PACK:We have just received a Family Survival Pack for display purposes to be utilised within our District. My Committee and I would welcome the opportunity to visit your Club as a guest Speaker to introduce members to DAA and show them first hand the contents of a Pack.

A tour of Tassie has been arranged 12 - 20 February 2011 is to promote and recruit players and supporters to IFCR in Tasmania. This began as a match between the IFCR team played against the Scottsdale during their support for the February 2009 bushfires. The visiting team will be playing at Devonport Scottsdale,Westbury, and Hobart. They are looking for home hosting during the trip. Itinerary here. (pdf download)

Following the recent devastation in Pakistan, Disaster Aid Australia (DAA) has now sent its first deployment of
Family Survival Packs to assist those most in need. Funds are urgently needed to source more Packs to keep this valuable work going.
Please consider making a donation now to assist the families whose future is unknown. Remember the aid is delivered by Australians on behalf of Australians. All donations to DAA are Tax Deductable.

Pakistan Disaster Relief

Advice has been received that the Rotary Foundation has opened a Disaster Relief Fund for Pakistan and is happy to accept donations from clubs, individuals and from District DDF funds.
These contributions will be centrally consolidated in Evanston and used to support matching grant programs specifically designed to relieve suffering and to restore well-being in Pakistan.
The contributions will not receive recognitions points but the Australian Tax Office has just confirmed that we may offer tax deductibility on personal and corporate contributions.

Beyond Blue Memorandum of Understanding
Rotary Tasmania, District 9830 has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Beyond Blue organisation
for this Rotary year. The main focus of the joint agreement between Beyondblue and District 9830, is to raise awareness for depression and
anxiety, and to remove the stigma from the words Mental Health.
The agreement will be launched at a "Gala Dinner " on 16 October at Ulverstone which high profile speakers. Booking details to attend this dinner will be available shortly. A similar function will be held in Hobart and Launceston later in the Rotary year. The partnership will also see events such as health forums and mental health days held throughout the state.

Inner Wheel Australia President Inducted
Pam Watkins from the Inner Wheel Club of Kings Meadows, Launceston, was inducted into the position of Australian President at a function in Launceston on 19 June. The Changeover was the cul
umination of a weekend of fellowship for 200 Inner Wheel members and their partners based on the Hotel Grand Chanceller in Launceston.
Pam is the second Australian President from Tasmania's District A80 . The previous office holder was Fay Cox.
