Government recognises value of RYDA $150,000 funding boost
The Rotary Youth Driving Awareness (RYDA) program in Tasmania has been boosted by funding of $150,000 by the Tasmanian Government. In announcing the contribution to RYDA, the Premier, David Bartlett, said the governmen
t contribution would enable every government high school student in Tasmania to have access to the RYDA road safety education program.
RYDA Australia Chairman, Mr Terry Birss, welcomed Premier Bartlett’s announcement of the wonderful contribution to the Tasmanian RYDA program, saying the grant would help young people stay safe on our roads.
District 9830 RYDA Chair, Charles Cook, said the funds would ease pressure on Rotary finances and help the program reach more students. In 2009 , 3448 Year 10 students from 48 schools undertook the day long RYDA course.
