Tassie Tour 2010

International Fellowship of Cricketing Rotarians (IFCR)

Tassie Cricket

An increasing interest in this fellowship - not surprising as Ricky Ponting and David Boon are high profile Tasmanian cricketers.

There were 20 members in September 2010, not all players, but we will work on thiscricketlogo. We're pushing for greater growth in Tassie membership.

Our first Tour was in February 2011 and included matches in Devonport, Westbury (Launceston), Scottsdale and Hobart.

The Tour and the Tassie chapter was unveiled there under the stewardship of new member PDG Ted Richey (new member )from Rotary Club of Devonport.

A message from Don McQueen Past President of IFCR

Hello Fellow Rotarians,

The Tasmanian Chapter of the International Fellowship of Cricketing Rotarians is about to happen with the above Tour.

This chapter had as its foundation the recognition of the

incredible response of District 9830 to the Victorian Black Saturday Bushfires of February 9 2009 with financial, fodder and volunteer fencing teams all contributing to our Regions recovery.

As a Past President of IFCR I was aware that out of our Australian membership, there was at this time only one Tasmanian member and as a consequence was not able to join in the wonderful World Wide activities of the Fellowship. Refer www.rotarycricket.org.au

Many of you were involved in the goodwill IFCR Tour of Tasmania earlier this year which was voted by the Touring Party as one of the best IFCR Tours we have ever been on.. Thank you for that Tasmania.

It is now our wish to host in February, beginning on February 9 2012, which is the third anniversary of the Bushfires.

The Cricket Tour will also include golf which will be played at the Marysville Golf Club which was totally destroyed in the Bushfire.

The Agenda will look like this-----

What needs to happen is this.

c A Launceston - NW group to marshall support for the Tour from these regions.
