The Relocation of The University of Tasmania (UTAS) to Inveresk

James is the Director – Northern Transformation for the University of Tasmania. In that role he is responsible for the Northern Campus relocation and expansion project and supporting many of the related activities. The $300M project is aimed at improving post school educational outcomes and reinvigorating the Cities of Launceston and Burnie and the whole of the North and North West region through supporting improved skills, jobs and productivity.

Most recently James was the Director – Northern Cities Major Development Initiative for the Coordinator Generals Office in the State Government and before that, CEO of NRM North.

James has also held a wide variety of board positions, including in not-for profit organisations and private companies across a range of sectors. He is currently the Chairman of the Launceston Airport Community Aviation Consultative Group, a director of both St Giles and the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania.
